Pennyroyal was formed when the Lexington Small Animal Hospital was purchased by Dr. Zaffarano in 1997. Dr. Zaffarano sold Pennyroyal to Dr. Tim Gravatte in July, 2009. Dr. Gravatte also owns a mobile veterinary practice in Lexington, The Mobile Vet Waggin', and divides his time between the two practices.
The complexion of the hospital is now 60% dog and cat, and 40% non-domestic species, such as ferret, rabbit, rodent, reptile, avian and marsupial.
We pride ourselves on excellent, up to date care for all the species we see. Our clinic features state-of-the-art medicine with an in-house laboratory, a compounding pharmacy, endoscopy, radiology, dentistry, special diets and boarding for all our client's pets (except avian).
We serve as a referral clinic for much of the surrounding state, and have clients travel to our clinic for our expertise from as far as West Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, and Ohio.
